Knoix ("we", "us", "our") is a community-driven educational platform at knoix.in where learners share resources, study notes, and learning roadmaps. We are committed to building a transparent and trustworthy product.

2 Information We Collect

We only collect what's necessary to run the platform and improve your experience.

Account & Profile Data

  • Email address (for authentication and notifications)
  • Username and display name
  • Profile bio and avatar image
  • Account creation date and last active timestamp

Content You Post

  • Educational resource links and custom titles you submit
  • Study notes and uploaded documents (PDFs, DOCX, images)
  • Learning roadmaps you create and their milestones
  • Upvotes, bookmarks, and reports you make

Usage & Technical Data

  • Pages visited, features used, and interactions within the app
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • IP address and approximate geographic region
  • Referrer URL (how you arrived at Knoix)
  • Local storage data for "Continue Learning" resume feature

3 How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We never have and never will.

  • To authenticate your account and keep it secure
  • To display your profile, content, and activity on the platform
  • To power real-time features like "New content available" notifications
  • To generate Daily Featured Content and track community engagement
  • To review reported content and enforce our community guidelines
  • To send transactional emails (password reset, account notifications)
  • To improve the platform using aggregated, anonymized usage analytics
  • To display relevant advertisements via Google AdSense (see Section 6)

4 Data Storage & Security

Knoix is built on Supabase for database and authentication, and Cloudinary / ImageKit for file and media storage. Your data is stored securely on their infrastructure with industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest.

We implement row-level security (RLS) policies in our database to ensure users can only access data they are authorized to view.

While we take security seriously, no system is 100% immune. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

5 Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage for the following purposes:

  • Authentication cookies — maintained by Supabase to keep you logged in
  • Preference cookies — to remember your light/dark mode choice
  • Resume feature (localStorage) — to remember the last Resource, Note, and Roadmap you viewed for the "Continue Learning" section
  • Analytics cookies — to understand how users navigate the platform (aggregated data only)

You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings. Note that doing so will log you out and reset your preferences.

6 Advertising (Google AdSense)

Knoix uses Google AdSense to display advertisements that help sustain the platform. Google AdSense may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. You can also disable ad personalization entirely via the Your Online Choices tool.

Knoix itself does not receive personal information from Google as part of the AdSense relationship.

7 Third-Party Services

Knoix integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and real-time features
  • Cloudinary / ImageKit — image and document hosting and delivery
  • Google AdSense — advertising platform
  • Vercel — website hosting and deployment
  • Google Fonts / similar CDNs — typography delivery

8 Your Rights & Choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correction — update inaccurate or incomplete information via your profile settings
  • Deletion — request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Profile privacy — toggle your profile between Public and Private at any time in Settings
  • Withdrawal — stop using the platform and request your data be removed

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address in Section 10. We will respond within 30 days.

9 Children's Privacy

Knoix is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify registered users via email or an in-app notification. Continued use of Knoix after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
